Day 8: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? What about now?
It really depends on the age. And to make these more interesting, I thought I'd share the few embarrassing little kid pictures I have on this computer, if I can find any.
Princess.jpgWhen I was around four, I wanted to be... (prepare yourself for a long list)
- Famous author
- Zoo keeper
- Vet
- Doctor like my dad
- Adventurer
- Rancher
And according to the picture to your left, I also wanted to be a fairy princess. Isn't that nice? I think I achieved that dream.
Big Ball_2.jpgWhen I turned eight or so, I wanted to be...
- International journalist... Mostly because of Buck Williams from the Left Behind books. I thought he was a beast. If I could have his job now, I'd still be an international journalist.
From the picture to your right, you can tell that I was definitely cut out to be a basketball star, wasn't I? I definitely had those skills in me. I was born to be the female Michael Jordan.
(Yes, I was homeschooled back then.)
Pictures of the rats 065.jpgAt ten, I wanted to be...
- Famous author
- Doctor like my dad
When I turned twelve or thirteen, I wanted to be...
- Famous author
- Counselor
W Twirling_2.JPGWhen I was fourteen/fifteen/sixteen, I wanted to be...
- Famous author (Do you see a trend here?)
- Missionary to a foreign country
- Someone working with a humanitarian organization
At seventeen, I wanted to be...
- Writer
- Editor/Literary agent
- Someone working with a humanitarian organization
- Blogger
P1000534-1.JPGAt eighteen, I want to be...
- I HAVE NO CLUE.
Seriously. I don't know what I want to be when I "grow up."
What about you?
What did you want to be when you were a little kid compared to now?
If you are already an adult, do you have the job of your dreams?
When I was little, all I wanted to be was an illustrator. I swear, I didn't want to be anything else. I wanted to be that all the way up until I was a freshmen in high school. Then for the next four years I really had no clue what I wanted to be. I had small glimpses of "Hey, maybe I should be _____," but nothing lasted more then a month. And now that I'm in college . . . I still don't know what I want to be. I'm tied between architecture and linguistics right now, but that will probably change. This is one of my biggest struggles that I've been praying about. And as time goes by, it's becoming a bigger and bigger issue and causing more and more stress. Bleck, maybe I'll just stick with becoming an illustrator. :)
ReplyDeleteI used to have goals. I used to have a focus. Now, I want to do about a million and one things!
ReplyDeleteBut when I was really little I wanted to be a foot doctor (that one didn't last), but my favorite career choice was either being a Lego Table or rug (Barney DID say we could be ANYTHING).
My best friend wanted to be a line painter.
I've also wanted to be a writer, (famous) Christian singer, youth pastor, preschool teacher, social worker, small business owner, magazine journalist (I wanted to work for Brio Magazine), and probably about a million other things. And, with the exception of the singing, all of the rest are pretty recent dreams.
While growing up my family always watch crime shows, so back then I wanted to be a FBI agent, not just any FBI agent, 'THE' FBI agent. Of course, I'm in college right now, and I also have no idea what I want to do. NOT A CLUE!!!! :)
ReplyDelete@Lissa Kristine, are you on Susiemag.com and is your name HoneyLissaBee, or something like that?
@Jessi- Yes! That's me!
ReplyDelete@Emily- Oh, your picture of you at the age of 4? No offense, but it's kind of creepy looking. If I ever fall asleep, I expect to have nightmares with that picture (along with Elmo with teeth... CREEPY)
Aww you were such a cute little kid!! And now a beautiful young lady :'D
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I wanted to be a Fashion Designer. That changed as soon as I realized I'd have to actually sew the clothing... Then I wanted to be a famous writer. Then I wanted to be a web designer. Now...I have no idea. I'm taking things one step at a time for now :)
@ Lissa Kristine---you wanted to be a lego table? That's pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher, a waitress, and a veternarian.
Today, my jobs have included teacher (child care), dry cleaner, clerk in a party store, and nowadays, I'm not only a mom, but also a Realtor, and a Phlebotomist.
Talk about ends of the spectrum...real estate and the medical field? Well, I knew real estate was headed for the tanker, so I went into a field that will always need people!
:-)
