April Report Card

Every month, I set goals for myself to achieve and then share my progress with you as accountability.  I borrowed this idea from Kelli at She Learns as She Goes.  Here is my report card for April.

Cut back on soda.  B
My original goal was to only drink soda on Saturdays and Sunday of each week last month, but there were days I slipped up, like the time I was asked to co-host a Coke float party, or the time I had to stay up half the night to study for an important exam and I needed caffeine (I don't like coffee).  However, I did cut down quite a bit on my soda intake, so I won't grade my mistakes too harshly.

Read at least one book.  A+
This month I read Left Behind by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, The Boys of the Dark by Robin Gaby Fisher, and 19 Minutes by Jodie Piccoult.

Raise all of the money needed to travel to Kenya this summer.  A+
I received more than my original goal of $3,200 in under five weeks.  God has been so faithful in providing for this trip.  Thank you to all who have supported me.  I will be heading to Kenya in June and blogging every step of the way.

Finish going through my clothes and giving away what I don't need.  B+
I am almost finished with this task, but not quite.

Make Bs or higher on my exam.  A
So far, I haven't received two of the test grades I made this month, but the two I've gotten back have been Bs.

Find more time to rest.  C+
Needless to say, I am resigning myself to the fact that this probably isn't going to happen until I finish school.  Some days, I've managed to get a full eight hours of sleep... and then something will happen, like the retreat I attended a week ago where I got a measly four hours.  I'll be on vacation soon.  The Lord sustains me.

My overall grade for this month was: B+

Overall, I'm satisfied with this score.  The sleep thing threw me off quite a bit, and I should have realized that it wouldn't work out before I even made the goal.  Without it, I would have received an A.

Did you fulfill your goals for April?

  1. I haven't set any deadlines for a long time, thank you for reminding me of that! I'll need to proceed cautiously though, because I'm out of practice. I don't score myself, either. I just look at my efforts and what I've seen God doing with them, and consider where I'd like to improve. I'll ponder the idea of scoring myself.

My written goals are scattered here and there, in various text documents on my desktop, in blogs and forum posts, and in emails to my friends. The first ones that come to mind are the ones I already mentioned.

    1. Practice and promote nurturing the spirit of faith and the love of God, in myself and in others.
    - Effort: Reading an epic poem based on the adventures of some heroic lovers of God.
    - God's gift: So much joy that every page would have been tear-soaked if I hadn't kept wiping my eyes.
    - Effort: Spending more time communing with God through his creation.
    - God's gift: Getting back in touch with trees. Trees do a lot for me.

I don't have time now to go through the whole list. Maybe I'll talk about a different goal the next time you do this.

Where I'd like to improve: I'd like to put more time and effort into learning to be a better friend to people in my life.
