Modest Trends: Scarves

| Filed underYes, scarves are still in style. I love scarves because they are modest, cute, and can add an extra pop to any outfit. I'll wear a feminine cut t-shirt from Old Navy and look plain and boring, but with a scarf, my entire outfit is transformed. Buying a few scarves can liven up some of your "older" clothes if your clothing budget is low this year. I also love how scarves are modest. When you're wearing a low cut top, they'll cover up that bit of skin that makes your blouse too immodest.
Bold Patterns and Prints
This year, scarves should be in bold colors and patterns. Leopard prints, dark and rich colors, and bright patterns are all in this year. One great tip would be to wear a bright scarf with a white or beige shirt. You don't want to wear a brightly patterned shirt and a bright scarf. The patterns will clash. See how the model to the left wears a white blouse with a dark blue scarf. The dark color and texture makes her outfit appear stylish and classy. You can purchase the scarf from Urban Outfitters for $28. Another example is the model to your right. I like the way she uses gray slacks and a beige cardigan with this cute, patterned scarf. The scarf is also from Urban Outfitters for $24.
Knit Scarves
Bulky, knit scarves will also be in. These are good for the winter months, in my opinion, because they will keep you warmer than a silky satin scarf. Colors should be fairly plain. Stay in the ranges of earthy greens, browns, grays, and off white. You can purchase this gray knit scarf from Macy's for a pricey $68. If you want to purchase a knit scarf for a little less, try the beige knit scarf to your right from Alloy. It's only $22.
Looped Scarves
While it will still be considered "in" to wear your scarves in neat knots, it's also going to be big to wrap your scarf around your neck in a few loops. The pale-colored scarf to your right is from Macy's and is $27.99.
Fur Scarves
In light of the faux fur fad that has come upon us, fur scarves are actually in style right now. They should look like a fur loop around your neck. I'm not personally a fan of this style, but for those who are, you can purchase this faux fur ring scarf for $34.
Do you like scarves or do you find them to be more of a hassle than a cute fashion accessory? How do you wear your scarves?
