1.) A team from Christian Relief Fund left for Kenya today. It's killing me to not be there with them. However, I hope they have the best time possible. I pray the Lord uses them to transform lives for Christ, keeps them safe, and shows them things they need to learn through the beautiful African people. I keep telling myself: next summer. Next summer. (And I'm so thankful my sweet friend Madrene is bringing my daughter Lavin a letter from me to let her know how much she is loved.)
2.) I started tweeting. I'm not sure how long that will last, but I'm having a bit of fun with it so far.
4.) While I'm talking about social media, I really like the look of my Facebook timeline right now. Of course, I love most black and white things.
5) I am also enjoying my iPhone case. Seriously, I love black and white.
6.) Luke, my little brother, is about to turn thirteen. He's getting so big now. Even his hands are beginning to dwarf mine. His shoes are now several inches longer than mine. How is Luke already such a big kid? In my head, I still envision him as so young.
But he's almost my big brother now.
And want to know a little secret? I think his voice has started to change. :)
7.) Summer nights are peaceful out here. I like to sit outside after dark and watch the moon rise.
I wouldn't mind so much if every night was a summer night.
8.) "Tumaini" means "hope" in Swahili.
I have hope about several things right now. This summer is slowly getting better. It feels a little bit like the light rain after a heavy storm. Peaceful, still damp and dreary, but much better. Survivable. I'm thankful for that.
I have hope that God is moving in Africa.
I have hope that God is moving in next semester at Texas A&M, before next semester even begins.
I have hope that I will see Ali before Christmas.
I have hope that the Lord will bring more than a sense of peace to this summer. He will bring great joy.
Tumaini.
I love this Emily! after I finish up my summer job, I am so getting serious about my blog:) You have inspired me. -Susanna
